Consulting Analyst

Position Summary

The Consulting Analyst researches, writes, and delivers IT best practices to help clients complete projects and improve processes within their IT department.

Major Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth secondary research using a variety of sources (incl. vendor resources, journals & published studies, online & print resources) and filter relevant information. 
  • Identify industry experts through a variety of sources, including advisory calls, workshops, consulting, LinkedIn, existing research, internal sales department, and current staff for primary research interviews.  Develop applicable questions and conduct interviews. 
  • Develop project outlines. Gather and collate all relevant information. Produce and write content with Office Suite products. Design tools and templates to be used in conjunction with written content.
  • Assist in the formation of the research agenda through collaborative brainstorming sessions.
  • Participate in and lead client calls, workshops and consulting to help members apply Info-Tech's research in the context of their specific business environment, and help them overcome project challenges. Document and share key insights and next steps with clients, and coordinate subsequent analyst experiences as needed following each call.

Education and Experience


  • Undergraduate degree, Dean’s list in final two years of study (academic transcripts required to be considered)


  • Academic scholarships/awards
  • Previous research, data analysis, teaching and/or software experience
  • Involvement in athletics, extra-curricular, community and leadership roles
  • Customer service/client facing experience
  • Related IT experience


  • Critical Thinking/Research/Analysis: Able to review a large amount of information and pull out key information, trends, and insights, determining relevance and accuracy. Consolidating multiple points of view & making decisions on what content to include. Recognizing what is best practice and what is not. 
  • Structured Thinking: Assessed through case study. Able to break down large topics/projects into manageable, logical steps and outputs. Using research and analysis to structure a blueprint and create deliverables.
  • Writing: Able to write from a business perspective, with skill in spelling and grammar. Clear, concise, client focused written communication. Develop written research content.
  • Client Facing/Facilitation: Particularly important during advisory calls and primary research interviews.  Able to building rapport and speak confidently with clients/interviewees. Active listening skills. Participating in and leading client calls and workshop exercises. Articulates well.
