Position Summary

The Consultant delivers on custom engagements for high profile vendor clients to support their product marketing and channel partner goals.

Major Responsibilities

  • Support business development activities by participating in proposal writing, project scoping, and presentation of the solution to clients.
  • Collect client needs through effective note taking, relevant follow up questioning, and other requirements gathering techniques to identify project scope.
  • Conduct primary and secondary research through the use of interviews, creation of surveys, and other data collection processes in order to understand clients’ needs and update domain knowledge.
  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative data collected through the use of analysis methodologies and analytics tools where applicable to synthesize recommendations for solutions.
  • Create compelling reports in Microsoft PowerPoint and Word to compile results of analysis and demonstrate solutions for clients.
  • Participate in client interactions and client management with weekly project updates, presentation of deliverables, report collation, and related administration.
  • Maintain personal tracking of hours and expenses using time tracking tool.
  • Collaborate with consultants across multiple internals teams, external contractors, and research subject matter experts.
  • Support research team with insights gleaned from client engagements; encourage and partake in cross collaboration with research teams.
  • Adhere to internal processes, methodologies, and protocol.

Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree, preferably in Marketing, Communications, or Business.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in business advisory capacity. 
  • Interest in business/enterprise technology.


  • Postgraduate diploma or Certification in Marketing or IT, an asset. 
  • Process Improvement and/or Project Management courses, an asset.
  • Experience working for an IT vendor based company (MS, IBM, SAS, RIM, OpenText) in a product or vendor related role, an asset. 
  • Demonstrated extracurricular activities.


  • Writing: Ability to craft and word deliverables in clear and concise manner, for a graphically appealing outcome that is polished and professional. Understand esthetic design of putting information together.
  • Data and Statistical Analysis: Ability to synthesize data and understand statistical tests. Advanced experience with excel to conduct data analysis including use of pivot tables, creating and using macros, using embedded formulas like index match, standard deviations, and other excel add-ons and ability to read outcomes.
  • Market Research: Ability to conduct research in the area of buyer and consumer behavior and knowledge, and price sensitivity analysis. Understand common methodologies for conducting competitive intelligence analysis (including but not limited to SWOT, Porter's Five Forces, etc.)
  • Client Relationship Building: Build rapport and communicate effectively with clients over the phone and in person. Maintain professional presence garnered through clear and concise delivery of insights based on active listening.

Additional Comments

  • Up to 20% of travel for onsite engagements.
  • Must be eligible to obtain a TN Visa.
