Managing Director, Consulting

Position Summary

The Managing Director, Consulting will work with Info-Tech Research Group's sales and analysts teams to drive commercial success of the Consulting Applications practice, and ensure successful delivery of all client engagements, workshops, and consulting. This position will also grow, lead, and develop a team of junior and senior consultants.

Major Responsibilities

  • Generate advisory sales by building on the existing base of 3K customers and 50K members, along with proactively leveraging professional networks to identify new, external opportunities.
  • Support business development activities by responding to and developing proposals, managing client relationships, and monitoring client follow ups to drive ongoing projects.
  • Manage and assign internal and external resources to meet delivery targets and achieve project outcomes.
  • Create compelling client solutions in the areas of Enterprise Applications (selection, strategy, process design) plus at least one other;  
    • Application Development (SDLC processes, agile, application portfolio rationalization).  
    • BI Data Management (BI strategy, data governance, data architecture).  
    • Project Portfolio Management (PPM, PMO, Project Management best practices).
  • Lead and develop team members on technical and core consulting competencies.
  • Lead advisory calls and provide thought leadership and content development in support of the research process.
  • Perform QA on all project deliverables to ensure a high level of quality.
  • Willingness and ability travel up to (25%) to deliver workshops on-site at client locations.

Education and Experience

  • University Degree in Business or IT; MBA preferred
  • 15+ years of professional working experience with minimum of 5 years consulting at a senior level within a professional services organization.
  • Demonstrated domain experience in Enterprise Applications (selection, strategy, process design), and at least one of the following:
    • Application Development (SDLC processes, agile, application portfolio rationalization)
    • BI Data Management (BI strategy, data governance, data architecture)
    • Project Portfolio Management (PPM, PMO, Project Management best practices).
  • Experience growing and developing junior and senior team members. One or more certification in CMC, CPA, CMA, or CA would be an asset.

Skills

  • Commercial Acumen: Ability to source, develop, and close commercial leads for consulting and advisory work.
  • Facilitation and Project Delivery: Capable of leading complex projects working with senior/executive level clients. Demonstrated experience managing complex, long term projects involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Communication: Superior level of written and verbal communication, charisma, and the ability to influence executive stakeholders. Proficiency in catering messaging to diverse audiences.
  • Domain Expertise: Experience in 2 or more of the following: Enterprise Applications (selection, strategy, process design), Application Development (SDLC processes, agile, application portfolio rationalization), BI Data Management (BI strategy, data governance, data architecture), Project Portfolio Management (PPM, PMO, Project Management best practices).
  • Leadership: Skilled in building and developing team members of all levels and capabilities.
  • Advisory: Ability to provide senior level insights externally to ITRG members around technology projects and challenges, as well as thought leadership to internal research teams.

Additional Comments

  • Must be eligible to obtain a TN1 Visa in order to deliver client workshops in the US.
