Director, Direct Marketing – Member Engagement

A dynamic B2B marketer with experience in member retention and growth functions in a subscription type industry – if this is you, read on. 

We are looking for a Director of Direct Marketing – Engage (Member Retention) to develop and execute strategies to maintain and increase the engagement and retention of our existing member base through timely communications and targeted content delivery.

The Director of Direct Marketing – Engage (Member Retention) will build strategies that engage our clients, help them to realize the full value of their membership, and ultimately drive high renewals and retention. The role will collaborate with supporting teams (creative, development, research, sales, sales operations) and vendors to launch member programs on time and on budget.

Role Scope / Responsibilities:

  • Analyze client data to understand behaviour patterns, identifying segments to develop customized and personalized programs to drive member value and engagement
  • Help clients discover the research tools and assets to get the most out of their membership though targeted and thoughtful communications that reflect an understanding of each client’s needs
  • Employ a testing methodology for all communications, analyzing results and uncovering insights to continually improve client engagement, site visits, research downloads, and booked experiences.
  • Develop strategy to optimize contact frequency, reduce list fatigue and create optimal contact cadences for existing clients.
  • Work with web team and agency on conversion rate optimization for pages on the member’s site
  • Develop integrated campaigns to maximize impressions and touch points for each program
  • Establish and maintain strong communication channels with key stakeholders, updating and providing regular updates.

Education, Experience and Skills:

  • BS/MS degree in marketing or a related field.
  • 7-10 years’ proven work experience in client retention & client experience marketing in a B2B subscription services environment.
  • 7-10 years’ proven experience in direct / email marketing and lead generation in a B2B environment
  •  
  • Proven experience developing integrated marketing campaigns
  • Expertise in email marketing and campaign management.
  • Experience and expertise in stakeholder management.
  • Experience working with an agency
  • Strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking.
  • Strong willingness and adaptability to achieve the outcome in an individual or team environment.
  • Experience and understanding of membership/subscription marketing highly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce.com and integration with leading marketing automation tools highly preferred.
  • Experience marketing to senior IT professionals an asset.
